The Bible
is God's Word to mankind and we fully accept its divine inspiration, authority
and sufficiency (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
God is the
creator of all things (Genesis 1), holy (Isaiah 6:3), just (Revelation 15:3)
and good (Psalm 86:5).
Jesus
Christ is the eternal Son of God (John 1:1; John 17:5); He became man (John
1:14 & 18) and died for sinners on the cross (1 Timothy 1:15). His death is
the only sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 9:28).
He arose
bodily from the dead (1 Corinthians 15) and returned to heaven (Acts 1:9).
The Holy
Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God (Matthew 28:19). He works
today to bring men and women to Christ through conviction of sin (John
16:8-11). He lives in each true believer on the Lord Jesus and He enables them
to live for God, guides into the truth and give them power (John 14).
The only
way to be saved from God’s judgment against sin (Psalm 7:11) is repentance
toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).
Salvation
is by divine election (1 Peter 1:2), according to His mercy and grace
(Ephesians 2).
He gives
assurance to those who have really believed on Him of forgiveness of sin and
eternal life (John 1:12).
He is
personally coming back soon to take His own people from Earth to Heaven (1
Thessalonians 4:15-17).
All will be judged - those who do not know Christ as Saviour will be condemned eternally (Revelation 22:3-4) and
(Revelation 20:11-14).
We seek to follow the teaching of the New Testament in what
we do.
We read in the book of Acts 2 v 41-42: "Then they that gladly
received his word were baptized...... And they continued
stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship,
and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."
Baptism. The first step for a Christian who
has trusted in Christ; this is baptism by immersion (Acts 8:27-39).
Apostles' doctrine. The teaching in the New
Testament which guides us as to how we should conduct ourselves individually
and as a church. We therefore meet together to study the Bible.
Fellowship. The Bible makes it clear that
meeting together with other Christians in the local church is not simply a
casual matter, but we all have an on-going responsibility to our fellow
Christians (Hebrews 10:25).
Breaking of Bread. In the New Testament
believers met to break bread every Sunday (Acts 20 v 7) as the Lord Jesus said
to his disciples, in the upper room before he went to the cross: "This do in
remembrance of me." (Luke 22:19-20) This is an opportunity for those who have
been obedient to His word (as set out above) to meet week by week to worship
and remember their Saviour.
Prayers. The way in which we as individuals
and as a church to speak to God. Prayer is essential for our spiritual health
(Philippians 4:6).
