| The Rules |
The Dartmoor Christian Camp is being run by a group of Christians from Whipton Chapel, Exeter and Belmont Hall, Harrow. The leaders of the camp are involved with working with children throughout the year and our desire is to give children an exciting, fun holiday at an affordable price. During the week, as part of the daily programme, we will be looking at the Bible to learn together about the Lord Jesus and what He has done for us.

Heatree House is a well equipped
activity centre hidden away in the Dartmoor countryside. The children will be
sleeping in rooms that sleep three or four, with a mixture of bunk beds and
single beds. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom and there is
a dining room and lounge
area.
Heatree
House has a lot of grounds
for the children to play in and with a short walk it is possible to be up on the
nearby Tors.

The holiday is for one week during
August. The dates of 2011 camp are:
Saturday 4th August 2011 - Saturday 13th August 2011
The holiday is for young people, girls and boys over the age of 10 years old who have been regularly attending the children's meetings at Belmont Hall and Whipton Chapel Exeter.
What are we going to do on the holiday?
We are hoping to organise a wide
range of exciting activities for all to take part in. It is difficult to
say exactly what we will be doing at the moment as we are still trying to
arrange the activities. However there is likely to be:
|
Kayaking |
Outdoor sports such as football, volley ball and swing ball.
Wide games and orienteering Dry Slope Skiing
Horse Riding and Caving
Swimming in local pools and in the
sea on visits to the beach
|
Archery |
|
|
|
|
|
Rock Climbing |
High Ropes |
|
|
|
|
All these activities will be properly planned and supervised and obviously the children’s safety is always the most important factor. All workers are CRB disclosure checked and have followed child protection training. (Child Protection Statement)
Each morning during the week there
will be a ‘quiet time’, where each room will spend time in reading the Bible
together and learning about the Lord Jesus Christ. Each evening we will spend
time having quizzes and singing and building upon the ideas discussed in the
‘quiet time’ that morning.
There will be some free time each day
during which there will be a tuck shop. The children will be able to bring a
small amount of spending money, for the tuck shop and trips out, which they will
put into the ‘camp bank’.
Who should I contact if I have any questions?
If you have any difficulties of any kind, make sure that you speak to a leader who will then be able to help you.
A high standard of behavior is
expected at all times throughout the week. You will need to have respect for
other people, whether on or off camp, and for other
people’s property.
You will be expected to act responsibly and sensibly, especially when we are off site. You will show respect for the countryside around us.
We want you to have a positive
attitude towards the holiday so that it can be enjoyed by all.
You will be expected to participate,
unless there is a very good reason why you cannot, in all the activities
provided on the holiday.
There will be different duties that
you will have to help with during the week. An example is cleaning up the dining
hall.
You must respond immediately to
whatever you are asked to do by any of the leaders on the holiday.
You must not leave the site of Heatree House at any time without the accompaniment or permission of an leader.
Please leave all radios and personal stereos etc. at home.
Please do not bring any pocketknives
etc. on the holiday.
Smoking is strictly forbidden on the holiday.
These rules are so that everyone can enjoy the holiday.
