Redevelopment of the back rooms

 

Belmont Hall has been around for nearly 100 years. The back buildings have been used for a variety of work and  in particular youth work. They will be replaced by a new building and with youth work in mind.

The 'Youth Hall' shell has now been completed and has been renamed 'The Learning Centre'. The building was very helpful with our summer children's club we were able to have 'The Learning Centre' permanently set up as the teaching room and the craftwork set up elsewhere.

 

 

 

May '09

 

The 'Youth Hall' is finally taking shape as it now has been plastered and has a floor.

 

 

 

 

November '08

 

Quite a large amount of work has been done since the last update. The whole front has been resurfaced and the work on the building out back gradually forming.

 

 

 

 

8th August '08

 

Work continues laying the foundations for the new building including the laying of the cement.

 

 

4th August '08

 

After a break in the work waiting for permissions and access the work continues. Work continues out the back of the hall preparing the space for the new building. The kitchen roof had also been redone.

 

 

November '07

There is now simply a large space behind the hall where the back buildings used to be. The rubble has been removed and the concrete has been cleared from the ground.

29th October '07

The two main back rooms have now been demolished leaving a pile of rubble. Its amazing to see how much space there actually is behind the hall.

23rd October '07

The infants room has now been completely demolished and is ready for disposal. The area is now looking very spacious, quite unusual to any who have seen this area being occupied for many years.

19th October '07

The infants room contained asbestos so this was carefully removed and is being prepared for disposal. This allowed the infants room to be cleared ready for demolition and now only the framework remains.

Work was begun clearing the buildings, removing some of the wood from the infants room and some of the flooring of the other rooms.
